Cristiano Ronaldo has not been included in the Man United squad to play at Chelsea after his much-criticised early walk-out from the subs’ bench against Spurs.

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of their squad for Saturday’s Premier League game at Chelsea, leaving more question marks over the superstar’s future with the English giants.

Ronaldo, an unused substitute in Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, trudged pointedly down the tunnel with a few minutes of the match remaining after being left on the bench again by manager Erik ten Hag.

Dutchman ten Hag said after the walk-out at Old Trafford that he would “deal with” Ronaldo a day later.

“Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea,” United announced on Thursday.

“The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”

The 37-year-old Portugal international scored 24 goals in all competitions for United last season, but has started only two league games this campaign.

United are fifth in the league on 19 points, one behind fourth-placed Chelsea after 10 games.

United said it fully backed the decision made by ten Hag, who has shown himself already to be a strict disciplinarian, having cancelled the team’s day off after the 4-0 defeat to Brentford in August.

Ronaldo’s walk-out had also left ten Hag fielding questions about the incident on a night when United had produced arguably their best performance of the season.
