The brother of controversial tennis star Nick Kyrgios has said Dawn Fraser’s apology for offensive comments means “nothing”.

Fraser, a four-time Olympic gold medallist, caused a furore after slamming Kyrgios’ behaviour at Wimbledon.

She was reacting to comments that Kyrgios ‘tanked’ or deliberately lost , something he was formally cleared of on Tuesday.

“It’s absolutely disgusting,” she told Channel Nine.

“They should be setting a better example for the younger generation of this country, a great country of ours.

“If they don’t like it, go back to where their fathers or their parents came from. We don’t need them here in this country if they act like that.”

She later “unreservedly apologised”, but this did not impress Christos Kyrgios, who said the apology “meant nothing”.

“I think it’s so bad,” he said.

“I honestly can’t even describe how disappointed I am at that.

“You’ve got this person who is meant to be a role model that a lot of people look up to and going and saying something, that’s for me, it’s primitive.

“The apology means nothing to me, to be honest.

“Nick’s behaviour on court can be construed many different ways, from different people. Some people might think it’s acceptable, some may not. Some people may understand, some may not.

“But, that is, black and white racist to me.”

Nick Kyrgios avoided a fine under the game’s ‘best efforts’ rule. He was widely condemned for failing to try in the second game of the third set.

He left Wimbledon with a total of $US9,500 ($A12,675) in fines.
