Gold Coast Suns offer Ablett a shiny new deal

Gary Ablett is set to sign a three-year contract extension with AFL club Gold Coast soon.

Both the Seven Network and Nine Network reported on Sunday that a new deal, worth $1 million a season, was as good as done.

• Who your team can least afford to lose
• The worry with injured Ablett
• Ablett out indefinitely

Such a contract would keep Ablett, who is currently sidelined due to a shoulder injury, at the Suns until the end of the 2018 season.

The 30-year-old dual Brownlow medallist was widely expected to remain on the Gold Coast, despite speculation regarding a return to Geelong.

Ablett’s manager Liam Pickering failed to detail a timeframe on Saturday, but confirmed a deal was imminent.

ā€œWe’re not far away. We’re close to a deal, it will get done,ā€ Pickering told radio station SEN.
