Central Coast Mariners sack coach

A-League team Central Coast Mariners have sacked head coach Phil Moss, effective immediately.

The announcement was made on Friday morning, with Moss ā€œstood asideā€ andĀ ā€œoffered a new roleā€ at the club.

Newly appointed technical director, Tony Walmsley, will fill in as head coach in an interim capacity for the remainder of theĀ A-LeagueĀ season.

Mariners captainĀ John Hutchinson will also take on the dual role of player-coach until the end of the season.

The decision to sack Moss is said to be part of a restructure at the club.

ā€œThe next phase of the Central Coast Mariners restructure will also include a fresh look at the operation of youth football that will be made evident in the near future with further statements,ā€ the club statement read.

ā€œThe specifics of Hutchinson’s coaching contract are yet to be finalised but fans, media and members can be rest assured that the club captain will remain with the Mariners in a coaching capacity beyond this season.ā€
