Kyrgios targets mental, physical improvement

Rising teen sensation Nick Kyrgios feels he needs to work on both his physical and mental strength if he is to break into the worldâs top 20.
The 19-year-old has captivated fans at Melbourne Park over the past 10 days, but his run came to an end in clinical fashion at the hands of Andy Murray in straight sets on Tuesday night.
Kyrgios, who has been criticised in some quarters for arrogance throughout the Open, says he plans to keep his âhead downâ and said improving his physicality will help him beat the top players.

âI was hurting out there, so physicality is a big one,â he said.
âMy mentality, I thought I had a couple dips out there. I need to stay consistent.
Murray offered Kyrgios some advice in his post-match interview, and warned Australians to avoid placing too much pressure on his shoulders.
âJust listen to Andy, I guess. Heâs pretty successful,â Kyrgios said.
âYeah (there has been pressure) but I thought I dealt with it really well this week.â
Iâm going to keep my head down & enjoy a few days off, look after my body & start the road to recovery. I canât wait to get back out there!

Kyrgios did, however, say the expectation took a toll on his preparation.
âNot getting much sleep obviously,â he said.
âItâs been a lot of fun, but at the same time itâs been pretty stressful.
âTwo weeks ago I wasnât even sure Iâd be playing the event.
âItâs just been a massive couple of weeks just trying to get fit. Iâm actually happy.â
âIf I stay healthy, keep enjoying it, then I think itâs (a top 20 spot) possible.â
