A house with a sleeping toddler has been sprayed with bullets in yet another Sydney shooting.

NSW Police said the couple in Kellyville, in Sydney’s north-west, were woken by suspicious noises outside their home in Janamba Avenue about 3.10am on Tuesday.

Hills Area Commander, Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore, said the two adults, aged in their 30s, went to the front door to investigate.

“I believe at that point there was a confrontation, or a discussion at least, at the front door before shots were fired,” she said.

“We do believe this was a targeted attack.”

At least six shots were fired at a window. None of those inside the house were injured, although the man reportedly narrowly escaped being hit.

Moore said the offenders were reckless and unacceptable.

“They have no regard for the community, they have no regard for the occupants of the home, and more broadly the street and the suburb,” she said.

Soon after, emergency services were called to nearby Gormon Avenue, where they found a burning vehicle.

“Fire and Rescue NSW officers attended and extinguished the fire; however, the vehicle was destroyed,” NSW Police said on Tuesday.

“The fire is being treated as suspicious and inquiries have commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

Investigations will examine potential links to a similar shooting in North Kellyville on June 25.

“It’s too early for me to say what those links are. One would argue from proximity that there could potentially be a link,” Moore said.

Police are looking for three or four offenders. They said they had CCTV footage of the group running through a reserve near the burning car.
