Dutton considering entry ban

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton is seeking an urgent briefing on legal options to deny an entry visa to the founder of a radical anti-women group that believes rape should be legal on private property.

A ā€œtribal meetingā€, organised by Return of Kings leader Daryush ā€œRooshā€ Valizadeh, will take place in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth on Saturday along with similar gatherings in 43 other countries.

Mr Dutton is looking at the legal basis to bar his entry into Australia.

ā€œLike all Australians I am offended by the reports that I’ve seen,ā€ he told reporters in Canberra on Tuesday.

ā€œOnce I’ve got all that information I can make a decision about whether or not a visa can be cancelled.ā€

But Mr Valizadeh has threatened to ā€œsneak intoā€ the country by private boat to Darwin from Indonesia or East Timor.

ā€œI’ll find a way to enter. I won’t be stopped,ā€ he tweeted.

The opposition and Greens are up in arms over Mr Valizadeh’s Australian visit.

ā€œIt is disgusting … those views and that type of campaigning and organisation has no place in Australia,ā€ Opposition Senate leader Penny Wong said.
