VIDEO: Syd men escape being struck by lighting bolt

A pair of Sydney mates have narrowly escaped being struck by lighting while taking cover in a boat shed during destructive thunderstorms.
Storms hit the city at the weekend, causing power outages and flash flooding.
Friends Nick Panayiotou and Daniel Dudman, were taking shelter at Oyster Bay and had just decided not to take their metal boat out.

âDude, donât go outside,â one of the men can be heard saying on the video.
âNo Iâm notâŚ,â the other friend replied.
Before he could speak any further â a massive lighting bolt struck the water.
Screams and yelling could be heard from the boat shed: âOh my God, holy sh**â.
After the incident, Nick told the Seven Network the pair âjinxed themselvesâ before the lighting strike, contemplating if they were going to get hit while jogging along the jetty.
âWe were contemplating the potential risk,â he said.
âWe felt [a lot of] static. That I reckon is the scariest thing, we were metres away from it.â
