Woolies recalls Aussie hats after awkward blunder

If Tasmanians donât feel like theyâre left out as it is, Woolworths has just gone and made things worse.
The supermarket giant has come under fire for its Australia Day merchandise, selling caps with a map of Australia on it, but missing one very important state â Tasmania.
The hats have already started to sell ahead of the national holiday, minus the âApple Isleâ, News Corp reported.

Aussies turned to social media in outrage about the error.
A spokesman for Woolworths said the chain would remove the product from sale.
âWoolworths is aware of the issue and in the process of withdrawing the product from our supermarket shelves,â a statement from the company read.
Meanwhile, Tasmanian Senator Jacqui Lambie, was also seeing red over the mistake.
âI hope that it was an oversight and not deliberate. Tasmania also disappeared from Olympic medals and posters for Baz Luhrmannâs movie Australia, so itâs very disappointing that the same oversight has happened a number of times,â she told News Corp.
This isnât the first time Woolies had come under fire for an national day blunder.
In April 2015, Woolworths was forced to take down an Anzac commemoration website after a barrage of criticism on social media over the decision to link Diggers with its âfresh food peopleâ slogan.
The supermarket chain went into damage control, after the Anzac Day advertising campaign caused national outrage, with some people labelling it âvileâ and âdisappointingâ.
