Labor MP’s one-word takedown

Veteran Labor MP Anthony Albanese has released the shortest and sassiestĀ press release in the history of Australian politics, smiting his outgoing opponent with just one word: ā€œGoodā€.

The commentĀ from the Member for Graydler in Sydney followed the news thatĀ Sydney Airport Corporation chairman Max Moore-Wilton would be retiring in May.

The pair have a long-running feud over the building of a second Sydney airport, something that Mr Moore-Wilton vehemently opposed as the chairman of the current Sydney Airport.

Speaking in Parliament in 2013,Ā the Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and TransportĀ accused Mr Moore-Wilton of an ā€œenormous conflict of interestā€.

HeĀ responded by threateningĀ to sue Mr AlbaneseĀ ā€œwithin an inch of his lifeā€ if he repeated the comments outside of the House of Representatives.

According to Fairfax, dumbfounded Sydney Airport staff called Mr Albanese’s office, who confirmed the authenticity of the release.

Former NSW Premier Kristina Keneally weighed-in on Twitter, saying her releaseĀ on Mr Moore-Wilton’s releaseĀ would have said ā€œabout timeā€.
