Captured from above, the phenomenon proves a stunning sight, lighting up the atmosphere in an electric green and red hues.
The photos, released over Twitter by NASA astronaut Reid Weisman, are accompanied by time-lapse footage of the lightsâ movement across earth.
Itâs not the first time the scene has been captured from space; Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield also shared images of the aurora on Twitter early last year.
