‘Fun to see them’: Neeson, Anderson’s families give tick to ‘romance’

Two sons of Liam Neeson and his Naked Gun co-star Pamela Anderson have given their seal of approval to the actors’ relationship.

The 73-year-old actor and his 58-year-old co-star star are believed to have started dating after meeting on set – although they are yet to officially confirm it.

On Sunday (US time), Neeson and Anderson appeared on Watch What Happens Live as part of promotions for the new film. Host Andy Cohen – a close friend of Neeson’s late wife Natasha Richardson – admitted he was “stanning” the rumoured romance, a viewpoint apparently shared by Daniel Neeson.

“The question that I’m not asking the two of you tonight is what’s going on between the two of you, but I do just want to say, as a very old friend of [Liam’s], all of your friends are very much stanning this relationship, as the kids say,” Cohen said.

Neeson put his hand on Anderson’s shoulder and she reached to squeeze it. Cohen then asked Daniel, who was in the audience: “Right Danny?”

Daniel replied: “Yes.”

Last Friday, Anderson shared a series of photos of herself and Liam on Instagram along with the caption: “The Naked Gun is finally in theatres! Bring your friends, family, lovers … whoever … just go and have a laugh … it’s good for you!

“I’ll see you there (white heart and popcorn emojis).”

Daniel, 28, commented with a string of emojis, including hands-up, fire and white hearts.

Richardson’s sister, Joely Richardson, also commented on the post with a string of red heart emojis.

The Neeson support comes after Pamela’s son, Brandon Thomas Lee, spoke about his mother’s new relationship on Access Hollywood.

“It’s fun to see them be, you know, good castmates and have a good time,” he said on Monday (local time).

“They have such great on-screen chemistry that it really means it’s well done.”

Cohen recently said he was happy for Neeson and his budding romance with Anderson because he could see similarities between the former Baywatch star and Richardson, who died in a skiing accident in 2009, aged 45.

“Natasha was a dear friend of mine and I’m gonna tell you something. I, and all of the friends in this circle, are very much stanning whatever this is,” Cohen said on his SiriusXM radio show last week.

“As I was telling him at the premiere party, I go, ‘Liam, she is an independent woman just like Tash was. She loves to cook. She has her own thing going on. She has two boys’.”

Neeson has had only one public relationship since Richardson’s death. He dated PR exec Freya St Johnston for two years before they split in 2012.

Last year, he told People magazine “I’m past all that” when asked about dating.

Cohen insisted “this just works” also because of Anderson’s travails. She has endured a sex tape scandal and five marriages, including a whirlwind relationship with ex-husband Tommy Lee – the father of 29-year-old Brandon and her other son, Dylan, 27 – and managed to reinvent her career.

“I mean, this just works, and you know, she is a formidable human being, Pamela Anderson. She really is. What she’s been through and how she kind of reclaimed herself and redefined herself,” he said.

Neeson – who has Micheal, 30, and Daniel with his late wife – previously confessed to being “madly in love” with Pamela as he gushed about working with her.

“With Pamela, first off, I’m madly in love with her. She’s just terrific to work with. I can’t compliment her enough, I’ll be honest with you,” he told People magazine.

“No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She’s funny and so easy to work with.”
