Nicole Kidman has revealed she misses her parents âso muchâ in an emotional message to mark her late motherâs birthday.
The Babygirl actressâs father Antony died in 2014 after he fell at a hotel in Singapore in 2014.
His cause of death was later ruled as a heart attack. He was 75.
Kidmanâs mother, Janelle, died last September, aged 84.
Kidman left the Venice Film Festival, where she had been due to accept the best actress award for her role in Babygirl, in a global dash to get home to Sydney as the news broke.
âToday I arrived in Venice to find out shortly after, that my beautiful, brave mother Janelle Ann Kidman has just passed,â Kidman said in a message read out at the festival by Babygirl director Halina Reijn.
âI am in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her, she shaped me, she guided me and she made me. I am beyond grateful that I get to say her name to all of you through Halina, the collision of life and art is heart-breaking, and my heart is broken.â
On Thursday, which would have been her motherâs birthday, Kidman reflected on neither parent being in her life any longer.
âMissing mumma and papa so much on what would have been her birthday today,â she wrote to her 10.5 million Instagram followers as she shared an old photo of her parents.
There was plenty of support for Kidman on Thursday.
âLove you Nicole!â actress Elle Fanning wrote below the photo.
Singer Rita Wilson wrote: âThe conversation continues. May her memory be eternal.â
Non-celebrity fans also offered support.
âSending so much love⊠you look just like the perfect mix of them,â one follower wrote.
Another said: âTough days to navigate, thatâs for sure. Sending love to you.â
The 57-year-old actress has previously insisted she wouldnât put a âtime limitâ on her grief.
âWow, three months on, and people say to me âYeah, she was 84, a good lifeâ. But that was my mum,â she told CBS Sunday Mornings, in December.
âIt doesnât matter what age someone is. There is no limit on grief, you donât have to have a time limit on it, you donât have to be all better by this time.
âYouâre allowed to pass through in waves and people go âOh well, whateverâ, but itâs my mumma, my life, and Iâm allowed to process and grieve in the way I want to.â
The Big Little Lies star has Bella, 31, and Connor, 29, with ex-husband Tom Cruise. She also has Sunday, 16, and 14-year-old Faith with her husband Keith Urban and is aware that as an âolder motherâ she needs to be mindful of her health after taking advice from her own mum.
âThe final words my mumma said to me, I was gonna get on a plane, and she said âMaybe wait a minute, because you just need to take care of yourself, Nickyâ,â she said.
âIâm doing that more, and I say that to other people in the world. Particularly, women, I think we tend not to care of ourselves. We take care of everybody else but the last person is here.
âMy grandmother left me with âbe happyâ and my grandmother said âTake care of yourselfâ.
âIâm an older mother so I wanna be around a long time for my girls, theyâre amazing girls and Iâm lucky to have them so taking care of myself so that I can take care of them.
âI would like to be around for a long time. Who knows? I donât get to choose that.â
