Mark Zuckerberg has seemingly made it clear he is not considering Kanye West’s plea for $1 billion.

In the days following his much-anticipated album release, West’s increasingly erratic Tweets included a request for the Facebook founder to invest $1 billion in his ‘genius’.

“Mark Zuckerberg invest 1 billion dollars into Kanye West ideas,” he posted on Monday, following up with “Mark Zuckerberg I know it’s your bday but can you please call me by tomorrow.”

The internet went into meltdown over the seemingly preposterous request. Zuckerberg recently pledged to give away 99 per cent of his Facebook shares, but indebted rappers were not included on his list of underprivileged groups.

Now, in case we didn’t already know Zuckerberg wasn’t going to pick up the phone, a sneaky joke by one of his Facebook employees has confirmed it.

Steven Grimm, a Facebook engineer, posted on the social media site: “Dear Kanye West: If you’re going to ask the CEO of Facebook for a billion dollars, maybe don’t do it on Twitter.”

The post was liked by 190 people, including Mark Zuckerberg himself, before being deleted. The post credited an Anikka Goodman for the original joke.

Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan announced their charitable initiative in December via a Facebook post in the form of a letter to their newborn baby.

“Like all parents, we want you to grow up in a world better than ours today,” they wrote.

“Our initial areas of focus will be personalised learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities.

“We will give 99 per cent of our Facebook shares – currently about $45 billion – during our lives to advance this mission.

“We know this is a small contribution compared to all the resources and talents of those already working on these issues. But we want to do what we can, working alongside many others.
