What were they thinking? Odd celebrity baby names

Whatâs in a name? A whole lot, if youâre the offspring of a big-name celebrity.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are the latest famous parents to give their child an unusual name after they announced on Tuesday their newborn son would be called Saint West.
Unsurprisingly, the name has become instant fodder for comedians, bloggers and social media users who have joked the name sounds like an expensive denim brand or exclusive resort.

While little Saint has been born into a charmed life, his unusual name could cause trouble for him down the line if past research is anything to go by.
A March 2009 study from Shippensburg University found unusual names are positively correlated with juvenile delinquency.
An April 2005 paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research in the US found boys who were given names commonly given to girls were likely to be more disruptive in the classroom.
Even US President Barack Obama has joked that his middle name â Hussein â has caused trouble for him his political career, due to its association with a particular former Iraqi dictator.
At a charity dinner before the 2008 presidential election, Obama reportedly joked: âI got my middle name from somebody who obviously didnât think that Iâd run for President.â
However, according to Victoria Whitington, Associate Professor at the University of South Australia specialising in early childhood education and development, a weird name doesnât necessarily mean a tough life.
âIn early childhood centres these days there are many children with a whole range of different names â people are getting really creative,â Professor Whitington told The New Daily.
âIn this day and age we are really concerned with childrenâs development from the point of view of them feeling good about themselves and being learners who engage in their own world.
âIf theyâve got good, responsive, sensitive parenting which is unconditional and all of those basics I donât actually think the name thing is a big deal.
âI would say to parents not to call their kids names that have other sorts of meanings that are derogatory though. Otherwise, unusual names might just be hard for teachers to spell.â
So, while these celebrity kids will likely be rescued from school bullies and insecurities thanks to more accepting modern attitudes, they might struggle a bit in roll call.
Reign Disick
Kourtney Kardashianâs 11-month-old son with ex-partner Scott Disick may or may not grow up with a desire to rule over everyone and anything.
Honor and Haven Warren
Jessica Alba and Cash Warrenâs daughters Honor and Haven, seven and four respectively, have a lot of pressure to grow up as honourable, charitable, welcoming women. Otherwise theyâll be walking oxymorons.
Apple Martin
Possibly the most famous âweirdâ baby name, Gwyneth Paltrowâs daughter with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is now 11 years old and seems to be doing okay despite her fruit-themed title.
James Reynolds
While not as outrageous some of her peers, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynoldsâ daughter might face a fair amount of confusion growing up as people struggle to figure out that sheâs a girl, not a boy as her name suggests.
Blue Ivy Carter
No one ever expected Beyonce and Jay Z to name their daughter something typical, nor did anyone expect them to give her a name that sounds like a superheroâs nemesis.
Poppy Honey, Daisy Boo, Petal Blossom Rainbow and Buddy Bear Maurice Oliver
Weâre not sure entirely what Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools were thinking when they named their four kids, but at least theyâre all in it together.
Kal-El Cage
Nicholas Cage was inspired by Superman when he named his son with wife Alice Kim. Kal-El was Clark Kentâs original name on the planet Krypton.
Blanket Jackson
Michael Jackson, King of Pop, leaves behind a legacy of excellent music and less-than-excellent childrenâs names. At least his youngest sonâs name is original?
Pilot Inspektor Riesgraf-Lee
Actor Jason Lee and his ex-girlfriend Beth Riesgraf clearly wanted to determine their sonâs career path from an early age when the picked the name Pilot.
