Taylor Swift has politely asked Australian media for some space while she is Down Under during her 1989 world tour.

The singer made headlines this week after her security team reportedly had a Sunrise news crew removed from the luxury Hamilton Island resort where she is staying.

In a statement to Fairfax media, Hamilton Island management insisted it was their decision to have the journalists removed.

“In this case it was clear the intention of the media outlets concerned was solely to disturb the privacy of a number of Hamilton Island guests without their knowledge or consent,” the statement read.

Local media have been swarming the area following rumours Swift is planning a celebrity-filled 26th birthday bash on the island.

However, the pop music icon took to Instagram to clear up any speculation about her party, asking press to back off so she and her posse can enjoy their well-earned vacation.

“So stoked to be able to take my band and crew on a vacation at the end of a long and wonderful tour,” Swift captioned a photo posted on Wednesday night.

“For all their hard work this year, they really deserve it. Thank you to Hamilton Island for taking such great care of 125 of the people who work tirelessly to make sure the 1989 World Tour stage gets built, the lights are on, the costumes are made, the guitars are tuned, and the show goes on.

“Aussie press, I love your enthusiasm but my birthday isn’t for 2 weeks and it’ll be a quiet one this year. Let’s take it down a notch:)”

Swift, who has also spent time in New Zealand in recent weeks filming a new music video, is due to perform in Brisbane on Saturday night before concluding her tour in Melbourne next week.

Swift turns 26 on December 13, one day after the 1989 world tour ends.
