George Clooney was genetically blessed with good looks, but he believes men shouldn’t go under the knife to achieve aesthetic perfection.

In a radio interview with the BBC, the actor said he had never considered having plastic surgery or dying his hair.

“For me its never been an issue or an option. I don’t think it would make much sense,”Clooney told host Jenni Murray.

“I’ve seen it happen—particularly on men—I don’t think it really works; I think it actually makes you look older,”

However, the 54-year-old acknowledged that it was much harder for women in Hollywood to cope with the perils of ageing.

“I know for actresses its infinitely worse based on public perception,” Clooney said.

The Tomorrowland star went on to address general sexism in Hollywood, speaking specificlly about the controversial hack attack on Sony Entertainment’s email system.

Hackers leaked emails featuring specific details on the pay packets for major female stars like Jennifer Lawrence, revealing them to be substantially less than their male costars.

“Probably the only good thing to come out of the Sony hack, which I think was an abomination for the most part, is the conversation that in very liberal Hollywood women aren’t being paid the same,” the actor said.

“There’s something like 15 female directors in a town of directors. I think its a very good conversation they’re starting to have.”

Murray questioned Clooney as to why he was often quick to assert that his wife Amal, a prominent lawyer and activist, was smarter than him.

“It doesn’t look very attractive if you try and say it the other way round does it?” Clooney laughed.

“She’s someone I enjoy spending every minute of the day with and I’m very proud to be around.

“Watching the things she does I admire so greatly. I’m very proud to be married to her.”

Speaking about being labelled as a “power couple” by commentators, the actor said he didn’t view his marriage in that way.

“I don’t think of us as a power couple because I don’t know what that means. Bill and Hillary [Clinton] seem to be a power couple. We’re just a couple with great interest in the human condition.”

Murray also cheekily asked the actor whether kids were on the horizon for the newly-married pair.

While Clooney applauded her style of questioning, he said: “I have no idea.”
