Sweden may have chosen its competitor for the Eurovision Song Contest, but the real star of the live performances was the sign language interpreter.

A video of interpreter Tommy Krangh’s sweat-inducing performance has already been viewed 1.6 million times, with one social media user dubbing him “10 times better” than some of the contestants.

The sign language interpreter went above and beyond the call of duty, enthusiastically dancing while translating a three-minute song with moves to make any dance floor junkie jealous.

So what was the motivation behind his magical performance?

Speaking with Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Krangh said he wanted to “just get funky and let go”.

The 48-year-old said he had already received marriage proposals on Twitter, but told Daily Mail he was just happy deaf viewers were able to participate.

“That is the charming thing with sign language it is so expressive and when you hear the music you basically freak out and loose yourself.”

“The important thing is that people who can’t hear is suppose to get the same experience as people who can.

“They should be able to have an opinion about the song, just like everyone else.”

Krangh is among good company as an enthusiastic Eurovision sign language interpreter, with another translator giving an equally-rousing interpretation of last year’s winning song, Rise Like a Phoenix.
