Stunning actress Uma Thurman is the latest A-list actress to be hit with flak from the US media over bad plastic surgery.

Oscar winner Renee Zellweger suffered humiliation-by-media for seemingly looking “different” in 2014, now Thurman’s face has been plastered across websites internationally for analysis of her “taut skin”.

The 44 year-old Kill Bill star was attending the premiere of the US remake of Christos Tsiolkas’s award winning bestseller The Slap.

Thurman takes on the role of Anouk, played by Essie Davis in the Australian version. She joins Melissa George, who is reprising her role as Rosie, Thandie Newton and Alexander Skarsgard. 

UK tabloid The Daily Mail went so far as to ask “Now what has Uma Thurman done to her face?” and compared a photo of the mother of three with an image of herself taken in …. wait for it … 1995.

“The 44-year-old actress turned heads for all the wrong reasons as she stepped out with a suspiciously smooth forehead and puffy face along with an extremely tight smile,” The Daily Mail report said.

“Uma certainly looks like she’s undergone a dramatic transformation and in my opinion, she’s looking too overdone,” a plastic surgeon told the website.

Time magazine came to both Thurman and Zellweger’s defence, saying that the story showed how limited tabloid news organisations were when it came to finding legitimate stories to write about.

“Zellweger and Thurman’s similarities aren’t just important because they prove the limited number of tabloid narratives there are to write. They also go to show just how constrained options are for actresses — as a recent study proves,” Time said.

“Both women were perceived as having made radical physical alterations to themselves in part because neither had been in the public eye for years.

“Will comebacks ever be allowed by the public again, or must every star over 40 have remained consistently in the public eye, so that their aging process comes little by little rather than all at once?”

Let’s hope so.
