Daniel Radcliffe has dissed the films that made him famous, admitting that he’s embarrassed by his performance as boy wizard Harry Potter.

In a new interview with the Daily Mail, 25-year-old Radcliffe admitted he found all eight instalments of the blockbuster film series “hard to watch”.

“I’m just not very good in it,” Radcliffe said. “I hate it. My acting is very one-note, and I can see I got complacent, and what I was trying to do just didn’t come across.”

“The moments I’m not as proud of, mistakes other actors get to make in rehearsal rooms or at drama school, are all on film for everyone to see.”

He did give himself some credit, however, admitting that his greatest performance was in 2007’s Order of the Phoenix because he noticed some progression.

Despite his criticisms, the young actor acknowledged the role as a “blessing” that started a “fantastic career” after he was cast at the age of 11.

Radcliffe made the transition from child star to serious actor with the help of a nude stage role in Equus at the age of 17 and a string of indie movies, but admits that alcohol and bad behaviour was a temptation.

“I don’t think I was consciously trying to rebel or sabotage everything…It felt more like there isn’t any blueprint for how to get through this. And the reason I spoke out about it was because I felt someone else would and I should take control…which is exactly what I did.”
